Spanish registrations

Spain - 750cc+ motorcycles grow +14 percent in first half of year

The latest data released by the motorcycle trade association in Spain (ANESDOR) shows new registrations in June at +34.2 percent compared to June 2014 (at 15,167 units for the month) and +21.54 percent for the six months of this year so far (at 64,117 units compared to 52,755 by this time last year).

This is the best year-to-date market performance in Spain for the first half of the year since 2011 and the best June since 2010.
In total PTW terms June was +33.78 percent at 17,057 units in total (+20.33 percent at 71,630 units for the year-to-date) and the number of mopeds sold (1,890/+30.52 percent) was the highest monthly and highest first half year total in Spain since 2012.
In percentage terms the encouraging news for motorcycle dealers in Spain is that the largest growth sector has been in the large displacement market, with 750cc+ units up by 47.5 percent in June on the largest volume of the year so far (2,021 units); for the year to date the top-end sector is +14 percent (8,808 units).
Small displacement "light motorcycles" still dominate in volume terms, accounting for 61.4 percent of units in June, with scooters taking 68.1 percent of the "motorcycle" market in Spain in June.
Jose Maria Riano, the General Secretary of ANESDOR, said "we closed out the first half of the year with very positive results. The hopes we had for market improvement in January have been met."
