SWISS-MOTO
The annual SWISS-MOTO expo takes place at Messe Zurich on February 20th-23rd 2014.
Featuring motorcycle manufacturers, aftermarket component specialists, and domestic Swiss market importers/distributors representing all sectors of the PTW industry, the show regularly attracts over 65,000 visitors and some 200 exhibitors over 30,000 square meters in 6 halls.
With one of the highest rates of motorcycle ownership per head of population, though small in total PTW sales compared to Europe’s major markets, Swiss riders are noted for their consumption of parts and accessories, and their passion for performance and motorcycle modification of all kinds.
SWISS-MOTO therefore also attracts a number of ‘specials’ designers and a healthy selection of Swiss (and nearby) customisers.
Last year, total new PTW sales / registrations in Switzerland were 45,774 units of which 37,897 were motorcycles, making it the eighth largest motorcycle market in Europe despite its small population.
Research conducted by ACEM puts the total number of PTWs on the road in Switzerland (the ‘Motorcycle Park’) at 850,561 in 2012 – a figure that has continued to grow consistently throughout the downturn (from 770, 264 in 2005).
