Maxime Renaux and Vertex Pistons - MX2 world champions

Maxime Renaux, riding for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team, has won the 2021 MX2 World Championship with Vertex Pistons' internationally respected GP Racer's Choice pistons - "Quality brings results", says Vertex.

The result means that in the 2021 motocross season, Vertex has scored multiple race wins and achievements, with Romain Febvre taking the victory at the Internazionali d'Italia, the win at the Prestige Elite MX1 Championship with Alessandro Lupino and with Kiara Fontanesi at the Italian women's championship, as well as top honours in MX2 with Maxime Renaux.

A stunning year!
The season had a difficult start for the 21-year-old Frenchman, who dislocated his shoulder at the Internazionali and made his debut in the world championship Russian opening race, but then everything went better and better as the season progressed and he ended up with five race victories, five second places and two third places in the GPs - meaning he won the World Championship with two races to spare.

"It was an amazing feeling to win after so many years of work and dedication. I am really happy for all the people around me who gave all their best to reach this goal", Maxime Renaux said.

"I think that we progressed in every way - technically, mentally - and we also got a step on the bike with a really good engine, thanks to the outstanding performance we achieved with the Vertex pistons - they definitely made the engine even stronger and more reliable."
In MX2 since 2019, Maxime finished third in 2020, with the Frenchman setting the goal to win the 2021 series before the start of the season and succeeding.
He will now take time to consider his options for 2022, with the tempting prospect ahead of stepping up to MXGP with Yamaha if he chooses not to stay in MX2 for another year.
