Vertex updates its 4-stroke pistons
After a motocross season that once again saw Vertex emerge as World Champions, and thanks to the close collaboration it has with the best international teams and riders, Italian specialist Vertex Pistons has further refined its 4-stroke pistons range "to guarantee the highest technological level and the highest reliability for the 2021 racing championships".
Equipped with a molybdenum disulfide coating - to enhance smoothness, performance and wear resistance - they are available in four models: Pro Replica, Pro High Compression, Pro Big Bore and GP-Racer’s Choice ("the choice of motocross champions" - including multiple MXGP world champion Tim Gajser).
The Pro Replica model is made with a forged aluminium body, racing profile, anti-seize MoS2 coating and original ring kit to perfectly replace the standard piston while offering an excellent quality/price ratio.
The Pro High Compression model is produced with a specific, dedicated forging and has the shape of the top completely revised by the Vertex R&D engineers, with an increase in the compression ratio that improves power and torque.
The Pro Big Bore model has a similar design to the standard piston but is a larger diameter with a relative increase in the displacement, which leads to a considerable improvement in performance.
At the top of the range, the Vertex GP-Racer's Choice model is hot forged with high resistance VP-310 alloy and equipped with an exclusively machined T-Bridge that is by F1 technology, a DLC coated pin (Diamond Like Coating), rings in chromed or nitrated steel (depending on the application) and a special shape on the head that allows the maximum compression ratio and great performance without any loss of reliability.
For 2021, the range of hi-tech pistons dedicated to 4-stroke off-road motorcycles has been further expanded with new enduro models for the Beta RR 350/390/430/480 and the whole KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas off-road line - as well as maintaining the production of pistons for Honda CRF 250/450, Kawasaki KX 250/450 F, Yamaha YZ 250/450 F and Suzuki RM-Z 250/450.
