Regina

Regina - advanced Enduro competition chains

The latest new products to come out of Regina’s northern Italy headquarters are these precision-engineered, high performance 520/135ZSE and 428/126ZSE Enduro chain options.
The ZSE’s Z-ring flexes into place as the chain is assembled, creating a spring effect that keeps a durable, strong seal over time - trapping lubricant between the plates to reduce friction and keep the chain running smoothly.

"The result is the best light-running chain available on the market today," says Sales Director Federico Gualdi, "giving riders the advantage of sapping less power in the drivetrain - resulting in a competitive edge on the track.
"Crucially, the Z-ring’s low profile allows the ZSE to be built to a narrow spec. Even with the security and longevity of the seal, the ZSE’s width is within half a millimetre of some unsealed chains - this means that the ZSE can be used on machines where a normal O-ring chain might not fit."
Regina made sure to apply its knowledge and experience to the advanced design and specification of the rest of the chain’s components too. For example, the plates on the ZSE are high-carbon alloy steel, shot-peened and gold colour, with solid bushings and high-quality materials used throughout.
Each box of the 520 version will have three connecting links included: one quad rivet type, one chamfering rivet type and one clip type for easy fitting.
"The 520 ZSE chain has been engineered and developed alongside top Enduro racing teams around the world, which is why this chain is already OEM equipment on many off-road models such as the entire Husqvarna, GasGas and TM ranges".
Manuel Lettenbichler, competing for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, won each single race of the Hard Enduro Championship in 2023 using Regina 520/135ZSE - "a proof of reliability and performance for top riders as well as any amateur enthusiast".

SBS Friction A/S

SBS becomes IATF-certified

Danish brakes manufacturer SBS Friction A/S has announced that it has achieved IATF 16949:2016 certification.
Developed by the International Automotive Task Force, IATF 16949 certification is a mandatory industry requirement that aligns automotive quality management systems throughout the world. Obtaining the IATF 16949 certification demonstrates that a company has met extensive requirements to create a process of continuous improvement with an emphasis on defect prevention and reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.

As a Tier-1 and Tier-2 supplier of high-performance brake pads for OEM and aftermarket brake pads for motorcycles, scooters and side-by-side vehicles, today the certification builds on top of the company’s already existing ISO 90001 certification and will be complementary to the ECE R90 certification.

"The certification has been implemented to improve workflow processes and confirm the brake manufacturer's continued commitment to producing best-of-industry quality brake products for OEM and aftermarket and enable expansion of its business activities therein and production efficiency," says leading Quality Manager at SBS, Gitte Hviid Larsen.
"With our ECE R90 and ISO 90001 certifications, we already work daily to ensure high quality and reliability for motorcycle riders and customers all over the world. The IATF certification is required by many industrial OEM vehicle manufacturers, and we are now in a better position to service these from the SBS production facility in Denmark, together with the rest of the Brembo Group.

The Indian government is supporting moves to electrification as part of its energy diversification initiatives to combat environmental issues as well as to promote domestic manufacturing, and the market for electric two-wheelers is growing rapidly.

In the Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050, the company has set a goal of reducing Scope 3 CO2 emissions (emissions produced from the company's value chain, e.g., use of sold products) by 90% by 2050 compared to 2010. Yamaha says that this investment is one of its initiatives toward achieving this goal.

Matris

Matris SD double tube design steering dampers

CNC-machined from billet aluminium (no forged parts), these SD steering dampers by Matris in Italy bring authentic racing aesthetics and race-proven handling improvements to a range of sport and street bike models, including the BMW 900XR and 750 GS, Kawasaki Z900 and Triumph 1200 and 765 RS Speed Triples (seen here).
Matris' Alberto Turcato told IDN that "modern sport bikes with short wheelbases and high-performance engines are by nature more prone to jittery movements, regardless of chassis or suspension design.

"Our SDR and SDK steering dampers improve front axle control, dampening all oscillations and reducing sudden movements of the front wheel, offering greater safety at high speeds.
"The advanced design features a double tube system with external titanium cylinder and internal coaxial aluminium cylinder. The single-rod piston rod is in high-resistance steel, coated in hard chrome and with a lapped finish surface treatment - effectively guaranteeing 'zero' friction."
The race replica design includes 16 "active" fully adjustable hydraulic damping options with calibrated holes and micrometric points of resistance and hardness, a "speed sensitive" progressive hydraulic damping system and a piston rod with PVD TIN (titanium nitride) treatment for optimal performance and durability.
The Matris SDR features aluminium alloy front rod-end with chromium-plated steel/PTFE/bronze wheel - applications additionally include the BMW R nineT Scramblers, Ducati Multistrada and V4, Kawasaki ZX 636R and Yamaha MT-09 and R6.

Amerschläger

Amerschläger P4 - updated motorcycle dyno

German dynamometer manufacturer Amerschläger has developed a new version of its SC100 dynamometer, specifically for motorcycles and scooters up to 100 hp.
The P4 "sets a new standard in the industry and offers a variety of advanced features to make motorcycle performance measurement more efficient and flexible".

A leading provider of dynamometer solutions in Germany, Amerschläger's modular design makes the P4 a versatile test platform with three main components - the front section, the roller carrier section and the ramp section. This is said to make for easier and more cost-effective palletised transportation on a pallet and allows individual parts to be replaced more economically to make the P4 a viable long-term test bench option for busy workshops.
Using the keyhole principal assembly is quick and straightforward, with the individual modules simply connected and screwed together without prior alignment - meaning that the P4 is ready for use in just a few minutes.

The 180-degree rotatable roller carrier section is designed for precise measurements. This innovative feature eliminates problems when measuring the performance of Vespas, for example, which could previously come into contact with the cooling fan and kick starter on the roller cover. This enables precise and reliable measurement regardless of motorcycle type.
The adjustable front wheel mount means optimum adaptation. Equipped with an adjustable rocker, it can be individually adjusted to the wheel size to fix the motorcycle even more quickly and easily without further assistance. This adjustment option is one of the primary features that makes the test stand versatile and suitable for the widest range of different motorcycle models.
The integrated brake on the power roller allows the roller to be slowed down with its own hydraulic brake - meaning that the motorcycle's brake is not stressed.
Equipped with an earth connection, including earth clamp, the P4 delivers even better detection of the engine speed. As an option, a monitor support arm is available, and a control panel for mounting a keypad can be mounted directly on the test stand for operation directly from the motorcycle.
The ramp is equipped with an automatic shock absorber and an increased range of mounting points.

Brembo

Brembo GP4-MotoGP caliper for road use

Described as the "ultimate brake caliper with MotoGP technology for road use", the Brembo GP4 is available in a 100 mm fixing version and is said to "boast exceptional performance, thanks to the oblique pad slide, typical of MotoGP calipers. This allows a greater braking power with the same amount of force applied to the lever.

"It has a greater anti-drag effect, instant pad release and less pad wear. Particular attention has been paid to the introduction of ventilation fins on the outer body and the new racing pistons, both characteristics which improve the braking system’s thermal exchange, contributing to cooling. This is achieved by air circulation, as a result of vehicle movement, but more importantly, by rotational-induced air movement of the brake discs and wheel.

"Designed and developed to equip the ultimate generation of powerful road bikes, the GP4-MotoGP is a brake caliper born from the racetrack for the road and perfectly suits the needs of today’s motorcycles and the most demanding track enthusiasts. The caliper is capable of taking performance and sportiness on the road to an unprecedented level.
"This new monobloc caliper is machined from a solid billet of aluminium. Compared to braking components manufactured by casting, machining from solid allows the use of materials with better mechanical characteristics, greater resistance, even in extreme operation, and, consequently, improvement to the performance of the entire braking system without compromising on durability.
"The ribbing on the front section embraces four pistons in aluminium, with strength and performance also given by the nickel-coating treatment - even at high temperatures - while still ensuring durability, wear resistance and optimal road performance".
