Matris SD double tube design steering dampers

CNC-machined from billet aluminium (no forged parts), these SD steering dampers by Matris in Italy bring authentic racing aesthetics and race-proven handling improvements to a range of sport and street bike models, including the BMW 900XR and 750 GS, Kawasaki Z900 and Triumph 1200 and 765 RS Speed Triples (seen here).
Matris' Alberto Turcato told IDN that "modern sport bikes with short wheelbases and high-performance engines are by nature more prone to jittery movements, regardless of chassis or suspension design.

"Our SDR and SDK steering dampers improve front axle control, dampening all oscillations and reducing sudden movements of the front wheel, offering greater safety at high speeds.
"The advanced design features a double tube system with external titanium cylinder and internal coaxial aluminium cylinder. The single-rod piston rod is in high-resistance steel, coated in hard chrome and with a lapped finish surface treatment - effectively guaranteeing 'zero' friction."
The race replica design includes 16 "active" fully adjustable hydraulic damping options with calibrated holes and micrometric points of resistance and hardness, a "speed sensitive" progressive hydraulic damping system and a piston rod with PVD TIN (titanium nitride) treatment for optimal performance and durability.
The Matris SDR features aluminium alloy front rod-end with chromium-plated steel/PTFE/bronze wheel - applications additionally include the BMW R nineT Scramblers, Ducati Multistrada and V4, Kawasaki ZX 636R and Yamaha MT-09 and R6.
