BMW Motorrad Development

Karl Viktor Schaller to head BMW Motorrad Development

Prof. Dr. Karl Viktor Schaller is taking over from Dr. Christian Landerl as head of BMW Motorrad development. Landerl headed up the motorcycle development team from November 2008.

His replacement studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich from 1979 to 1985, and following his studies he continued there as a scientific assistant at the research institute for gear wheels and gear manufacturing, obtaining his doctorate in the process.

His professional career then began at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG (commercial vehicles) in Munich, where he became the board member responsible for technology and purchasing.  In 2009 he founded kvs consulting, which specialises in the automotive sector. He remains managing director of kvs, and BMW say he has been an enthusiastic motorcycle rider for
35 years.
