Japanese exports to Europe up

Japanese PTW exports to Europe up by 50 percent in December

Japanese PTW exports to Europe increased by 50 percent for the month of December 2013 to 21,146 units, up from 14,094 in December 2012. This brings the total of exports for the whole year to 147,965, down -9.52 percent on 2012, but substantially better than the first half of the year, as the first 6 months saw substantial decline in exports.

250cc+ motorcycle exports from Japan to Europe follow a similar trend - with an increase of 46 percent for the month of December 2013 (18,878 units, up from 12,022 in December 2012), with the whole year figure down -11.48 percent at 130,455 units.



250cc+ motorcycle exports to the United States were down slightly at 0.19 percent for 2013, at 118,819 units, down from 119,048 in 2012, following disappointing figures for October, November and December, reversing the positive trend seen earlier in the year.  PTW exports were down -5.8 percent for the year, at 156,942 units (down from 166,061 in 2012).

Japanese worldwide exports of PTWs were up a substantial 23.98 percent in December at 48,164 units, however, exports for the years as a whole remained in negative figures, down
 -10.17 percent at 430,447 units (down from 479,163 last year).
