Austrian motorcycle registrations continuing to decline
Total new PTW registrations in Austria are -5.77 percent for the first nine months of 2015 at 35,791 units, compared to 37,984 for the first nine months of 2014 - a year that saw PTW sales for the full year in Austria decline to 40,000 from 43,000 in 2014, and nearly 46,000 in 2012.
In terms of motorcycles of 125cc and above, the Austrian market is down by -4.00 percent for the January to September 2015 period, at 11,531 units from 12,012 units for the fist nine months last year.
Not surprisingly KTM is the market share leader in its home market, taking nearly 22 percent of 125+cc motorcycle sales so far this year, with BMW second (13.55 percent), Yamaha third (11.91 percent), Honda fourth (10.54 percent) and Harley-Davidson fifth (8.41 percent).
The top-selling motorcycle in Austria is Yamaha's MY07 (with the MT-09 third), BMW’s R 1200 GS second, the Ducati Scrambler fourth and the KTM 1290 Superduke R fifth - KTM make six of the top twenty selling motorcycles in Austria so far this year.
In total PTW terms, Vespa is the top selling brand in Austria, followed by KTM, Honda, Yamaha and Ride.
