EICMA 2015

EICMA 2015

Motoweek presents a selection of "Milan Show" exhibitor and product news. In a year that saw long-delayed R&D investments finally result in a tsunami of new product initiatives, exhibitors capitalised on the positive business environment and strong international industry visitor attendance seen this year ...

WUNDERLICH: The German BMW parts and accessories specialist caused quite a stir with the unveiling of their latest prototype special-project - a 2 wheel-drive R 1200 GS LC as a follow-up to the 156 HP Scrambler concept unveiled earlier this year. Using a 7.6 kw electrical front wheel gearbox, their GS Hybrid delivers increased power and handling with a powered front wheel that eats corners and can be adjusted while riding. Braking energy recharges the battery, and on e-power only the bike can make up to 20 kph. Used as manoeuvring assistance, the electric motor even allows for 3kph of reverse - great for parking on a slope! www.wunderlich.de

PARTS EUROPE: The fast growing European end of the huge Wisconsin, USA headquartered Parts Unlimited operation - recognised as the largest aftermarket parts, accessories and apparel distributor in the world - showcased many of the hundreds (thousands even?) of brands available, including the French made Neken (NK) handlebar, top and bottom off-road triple trees and the patented, shock-absorbing NK SFS (Soft Feel System) adjustable air clamp; www.partseurope.eu

DYNOJET: The Las Vegas, Nevada headquartered dynamometer and Power Commander manufacturer has new owners. Just before EICMA news was released that two private US equity firms (Irving Place Capital and New Value Capital) had acquired Dynojet Research Inc for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 1972 by Mark Dobeck, the company has a manufacturing facility at Belgrade, Montana, and a sales office and distribution centre in the Netherlands. Commenting on the deal, Dynojet CEO Robert Vleck said that "our new partnerships provide us with greater resources and capabilities to continue to advance our technical expertise and supply innovative new products"; www.dynojet.com

D.I.D. EUROPE: Last year saw the company celebrate the 10th anniversary of its decision to open its European office in Italy - a decision that has paid off handsomely with sales continuing to grow, even through the downturn that affected other motorcycle chain manufacturers and service item vendors. The company is well known for its top selling VX high-performance street and off-road chain and top-of-the line ZVMX sport tourer and sport bike X-Ring technology chains; www.dideu.it

LEOVINCE: The Italian exhaust company has been adding to its fitment programme this year with new LV One and Nero exhaust applications and Honda models, including the Forza 125 scooter, the Yamaha MT-09 and T-Max among other popular makes and models getting the LeoVince style and technology treatment; www.leovince.com
