BMW Motorrad reports strongest sales result in company history
After selling 210,408 motorcycles worldwide in 2024, BMW Motorrad says it has achieved the strongest annual sales result in company history.
Germany remains its largest market and carries a significant share on the sales record of BMW Motorrad, with Europe, USA, Asia and Latin America regions also all doing well.
BMW credits the strength of its multi-segment portfolio and cites the market introduction of "sought-after new models, like the mighty M 1000 XR and S 1000 XR; the new GS models from the middleweight F 800 GS, F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure; the casual Heritage R 12 and R 12 NineT models and, leading the way, the adventure touring icons R 1300 GS and GS Adventure with the legendary BMW Boxer Engine."
Markus Flasch, head of BMW Motorrad said: "With these results BMW Motorrad remarkably claims the 1st Place in the global Premium Motorcycle segment. Our market leadership in numerous segments and markets in based on our claim to innovation leadership, our highly attractive product offering as well as the consistent strategic focus on brand strength."
With 118,727 units sold, Europe is by far the strongest sales region for BMW, and no surprise that Germany (26,177 units) is the largest single market for the company in Europe, up by +8% year on year.
Germany is followed by France (20,693 units), Italy (16,617 units) and Spain (13,009 units). Despite the geopolitical tensions affecting the economies in the area, central European markets were +12% at 14,411 units sales in.
Elsewhere, the United States saw 17,272 units sold, Brazil 15,267 units, China 13,872 and India 8,301 units.
The R 1300 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure were BMW's top sellers worldwide. Overall, more than 68,000 boxer models were sold worldwide, with 27,147 four-cylinder bikes sold worldwide and 40,890 F-series units sold.
